A: That would be the ideal situation, however, you can start taking piano lessons by using an electronic keyboard to practice on. Most of our students buy a small electric keyboard that you can buy at Walmart, Sam’s or Costco. We recommend that the keyboard have regular piano size keys and weighted keys. Smaller children do not need weighted keys.
A: No, you do not need a full set of drums to take lessons. Students can start by using a practice pad set, which includes the pad, a stand, and a set of sticks. This kit costs approximately $49.
Q: How long does it take to learn an instrument?
A: With regular practice, a basic level of playing
can be accomplished on any instrument within a few months.
Most students take lessons on a long term basis, because
they want to be constantly improving and they find the lessons
enjoyable.
Q: I don’t have a musical background or ability; can I
still help my child practice?
A: Yes. By simply monitoring that they are practicing
exercises a certain number of times per day the student
will progress. Many parents will occasionally sit in on
the students lesson to get an idea of the proper way a song
should sound or how the student should be positioning their
hands.
